Stingers Throw with the Jays - August 28 Coach Dale
Four Minor Mosquito Stingers had quite the night at the EX. Josh
Lantz, Jacob Forgrave, Noah Hull and Jake Roberts played for
Toronto at the historic park at the CNE grounds. They
contributed in a big way in a convincing win over the York
Simcoe All-Stars. And then it was off to the EX fairgrounds for
fun and games. And soon the games got more interesting than you
can imagine. They ran into the Jays young Canadian superstar
Brett Lawrie, plus J.P. Arancebia and Mike McCoy. The Jays were
more than gracious - taking them under their wings for some
baseball toss at the plates games. Let’s just say that there was
a whole lot of smashing going on. And the young Stingers threw
in style. Lawrie first handed two balls to pitcher Josh Lantz
who took dead aim and hit two bull’s-eyes, smashing the plates

Mississauga Southwest Tournament - July 25 Callum Jeffrey 15
This past weekend the Stingers went to the Mississauga SW tourney. We started out playing Markham on Friday and we won 9-3. On Saturday we beat host team Mississauga 7-6, which meant we advanced to the semi finals. When we arrived at the park we found out that we were facing Vaughan, it was an exciting game which went to extra innings and although we played great we ended up losing by one 7-6.. The whole team played with a lot of heart. Thanks to Coach Frank for teaching us how to play this fantastic and fun game!

Minor Mosquitos Strike in Ajax - July 18 Coach Dale
The Stingers’ Minor Mosquito team continues to build momentum, and quite the resume. With three tournament semi’s under their belt, and a one-run loss to the Mississauga Tigers in the final of a tourney that featured many of the Provincial heavyweights, the Minors pulled off a victory in Ajax. And they did so in commanding fashion with a near-mercy victory over the TBA team from East York. Head coach Frank Gallo has built a team around a young and very athletic group that is arguably the fastest Minor Mosquito team in the province. Aggressive base running (some small ball) and stealing is a team strength. Several strong arms and solid bats throughout the line-up make this team a group to be reckoned with in the TBA’s and Provincials.
And the team has really bonded as a group, from the players to the coaching staff and very supportive (oh can they cheer) parents. Check out their website if you want to see Coach Frank wearing a whipped cream pie. The kids thought that Frank should wear the pie as a Father’s Day treat during their tourney stay-over in Cambridge. Kee

Scarborough Stingers Dominate Ajax Tournament - July 18 Colin Heron 39
After a losing slump, our team was hoping to turn things around and with possibly our best practice yet, the Stingers were hungry to win. Our first game was against Oshawa which we won 17 – 4. Our defence was great and our eye at the plate probably won us the game. We were pumped and ready for the next game. Our next game was probably the hardest of the tournament. We were facing East York and their fastest pitcher. We won against them 2 – 0. As you can see it was a tight game and both teams’ pitchers were phenomenal. Josh and Alex pitched for our team and shut them down. For offense we used our speed to steal some bases and squeeze out some runs. Now we are 2 – 0 in the tournament and going against a team who had lost their first two games. As you can imagine, we wanted to win and go to the finals, so we played well and won. This took the pressure off of us having to scramble to win the next game. Instead we could save our pitchers and have a better chance in the finals. We are 3 – 0 going into our fourth game. We wanted to go undefeated, so we played hard and beat the Ajax Spartans. Now we are warmed up and ready for the finals. The final game was against East York. Going into the game, both teams were determined to beat one another, but by the end of the game, only one team could win and that team was the SCARBOROUGH STINGERS! The final score was 11 - 2. In the game, our defence and pitching were amazing as well as our offense. As quick as that, the 2011 Minor Mosquito Scarborough Stingers AAA team had won their first tournament!

Stingers Almost go All the Way in Mississauga North Tournament - June 14 Nick Duguid 16
Our Team reached the finals in the Mississauga Tournament. We almost came back to win but lost 9-7 to the Tigers. We even made a triple play. My favourite part was beating Burlington in the semi finals after we had a bad game against them in the morning. We beat Hamilton, Bolton, and Brampton to get to the playoffs. We get to go to Cambridge next weekend. See details in our tournaments page.
