2006 Toyota Tyke Tournament

General Team Information

 

Registration:

 

We require all teams to register with tournament officials at least one (1) hour prior to your first game. Registration will be located at your first game Park.  This is an OBA sanctioned tournament therefore all players must be OBA carded.  Sanctioned roster sheets must be presented to the tournament officials before the commencement of your first game.

Games:

 

Each team will be guaranteed three (3) games.  Due to the size of the tournament all games must start on time .  There will be no infield warm-up prior to the start of your game.  Lineup cards must be in the hands of the official scorekeeper five (5) minutes before game time.

 

Opening Ceremonies:

 

All teams must participate in our opening ceremonies.  The parade of officials from the sponsor, city and teams will be lead in by a flag bearer and bag piper.  You will need to be at the staging area in Waterworks park by 12:15 pm.  We will supply a team banner and further information at that time. 

 

All-star Game:

 

There will be an all-star game on Saturday night.  Each team in the tournament will supply 1 pitcher OR 1 positional player for this fun game.  Each pitcher will only pitch one (1) inning and this will not be included in their pitching stats.  The selected players will be presented with a team shirt and cap which is theirs to keep.  Please have your selections into tournament officials no later than 3:00 pm Saturday afternoon.

 

Award Presentations:

 

All tournament participants will be presented an award.  These presentations will take place after your last game. There will a maximum of 14 awards per team.

Rules and Regulations

 

1.         The 2005 Minor Champions will automatically be entered if they make application before March 1, 2006.

 

2.         To be accepted in any tournament, written permission from the OBA affiliated association in which the team plays must accompany the application.  These permission slips will be sent to the OBA tournament chair person upon completion of the tournament. A Roster sheet approved by the OBA registrar must be presented to tournament officials prior to the player participating in the teams first game.  All players must sign the approved OBA tournament signature form, which will be forwarded to the OBA tournament chair person.

 

3.         Maximum awards per team is 14.

 

4.         There will be no infield practice allowed before your scheduled game.

 

5.         Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 3 games.

 

6.         Teams will toss a coin prior to the game to determine the

            "home team".

 

7.         Base distance will be 65 feet, pitching distance 44 feet.

 

8.         All games (EXCEPT FINAL) will be either 7 innings or 2 hours in length.  No new inning may be started after 1 hour 40 minutes. (Unless due to an injury delay, which the plate umpire will announce prior to the resumption of play).

 

9.         The championship games will be 7 innings, no time limit.

 

10.       Mercy rule in effect for all games.

 

11.       Ties stand during the preliminary round.

 

12.       No shoes with metal spikes will be allowed.

13.       Player's conduct is the responsibility of the manager or coach.

 

14.       Each team is to provide a scorekeeper and Cambridge will provide an official scorekeeper.

 

15.       All teams will register at least one (1) hour prior to their first game.         REGISTRATION IS AT YOUR FIRST GAME DIAMOND !


16.       Except for the above, the rules of baseball shall govern.

 

17.       In case of bad weather, managers or coaches will be notified by the tournament officials regarding game status.

 

18.       In case of rainout, the tournament will be re-scheduled in whole or in part during the same weekend.  If this is not possible, a mutually agreed weekend will be decided on later in the summer.

 

19.       As this is an OBA sanctioned tournament, all teams must be registered with OBA.

 

20.       Mosquito pitchers (tyke) shall not pitch more than seven (7) innings in any calendar day and no more than fourteen (14) innings in any tournament.  If a player pitches five (5) or more innings in any day, he/she cannot pitch the next day.  The player must have two (2) nights rest.  Any player who assumes the pitching position in an inning will be charged with an inning pitched.

 

21.       Helmet chin straps are mandatory and will be worn as designed by the   manufacturer.

 


 

SEMI-FINAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

The Minor and Major division will be divided into four (4) team groups for round robin play.  Points will be awarded on the following basis:  win - two (2) points, tie one (1) point, loss - zero (0) points.  The top team in each group will advance to the semi-finals..  If there is a tie in a divisional group the tie breaking rules listed below apply.

 

IN THE EVENT OF A TIE WITHIN THE DIVISION AND TO DECIDE THE AVANCING TEAM, THE FOLLOWING WILL BE USED AS THE TIE BREAKING FORMULA: As per OBA Rules.

 

1.         In the event of a tie between two (2) teams in the same group, the winner of the game between the two (2) teams will advance.

 

2.         In all other circumstances the following formulas will apply.

 

            a) Runs against (all innings) divided by all innings played.

               The lowest number will advance.

 

            b) Runs for (all innings) divided by all innings played.

               The highest number will advance.

 

            c) Coin toss.

SEMI-FINAL FORMAT

 

 

1.      In the Minor Division Winner Divison A will play Winner Division B and Winner Division C will play Winner Division D

 

 

2.      In the Major Division  Winner Division E will play Winner of Division F and Winner Division H will play winner Division I.
