April Signals a Move From Inside to Outside - April 5
As the team can now see the light at the end of the indoor workout tunnel, it's time to take a look back at what the off season has been like for the Stingers. With gym workouts beginning back in November, the boys focus on conditioning and keeping their arms loose. After the Christmas break, more baseball drills are introduced and, while you try to keep it fun, the workouts begin to intensify. Guest instructors have certainly offered the opportunity to gain from their experience and vary the workouts.
For some players, the winter is also time to take advantage of the various baseball clinics that are offered throughout the city. With the competition continuing to grow at this level and age, the extra work certainly can't hurt to help keep an edge. Shortly after the season ended, Connor, Adrian, Trevor and Luc took part in a Fall Ball program through Pro Teach Baseball . Luc has also been at Pro Teach and Adrian at The Competitive Edge for additional work. The Baseball Zone played host to Trevor and Josh.
Now that April has arrived and the beginning of the season only a month away, the stretch run features 6 additional workouts at The Competitive Edge. The coach's goal for every off season is to provide as much opportunity for the players to get their reps in of throwing, hitting and fielding. It's then up to each person to grab that opportunity to be best prepared for the season.
Three more weeks of gym workouts remain on the schedule. The hope is that with the great weather we have experienced, some practice time can be moved outdoors. Some players have already been outside for workouts on their own.

Jeff Cowan Gives the Stingers Some Pointers - February 18
The Stingers had another visitor drop in to this time offer some fielding and hitting advice to the players. Infielder Jeff Cowan completed a very successful four years of ball at High Point University and has just recently signed on with the Normal CornBelters of the Frontier League. Jeff not only demonstrated some drills with the players but also took part and was put through the challenge. It's one thing to be shown fielding techniques, but it's even more enjoyable to see it put into action and done effortlessly. His work effort can be contagious. Who knows, maybe Jeff will be back as he continues to train at home for this season before heading off to Illinois and the CornBelters.
Good luck this year Jeff !
